What does the role entail?

I work as an Overhead Line Technician, where I help build the overhead electrical system that powers trains. My role involves planning and hands on work to ensure the electrification projects that I am involved in runs safely and efficiently

What was your educational pathway?

I studied Maths, Physics and Geography to A-Level standard and then completed the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship specialising in Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) with my employer Colas Rail, which gave me the skills and experience to work in this specialist field.

What do you love about the role?

I enjoy being part of the entire process of an electrification project. From initial design phase to construction and final completion. I also enjoy the teamwork and variety that comes with working in this industry.
