What does this role involve?

Typical duties include:

  • Designing and developing mechanical products, such as engines and robots, and systems, such as heating and cooling systems
  • Using computer aided design (CAD) to create technical drawings and specifications of their designs
  • Working with others, such as electrical engineers and software developers, to ensure that their designs are compatible with other systems and components
  • Managing projects

Qualifications

  • STEM subjects at GCSE grades A*-C
  • A-Levels in relevant subjects
  • Engineering or relevant Bachelor’s degree

  • Level 6 Diploma or equivalent Degree Apprenticeship in Engineering or related subject
  • Relevant engineering-specific health and safety qualifications
