What does the role entail?

Railway coders are our digital tracklayers; they write code and develop software to make processes simpler and more efficient. These digital problem solvers make sure colleagues have the right systems in place so the rail network runs smoothly and passengers get home safe every day.

What was your educational pathway?

My GCSEs included Computer Science, followed by A-Levels in IT, History & Geography. I then went on to do a BSc degree in Digital Technology Solutions.

What do you love about the role?

I love that my job allows me to develop solutions that assist hundreds, if not thousands, of people in their roles. I also find great satisfaction in problem-solving, especially when something clicks, enabling me to complete a task and add new functionality to an application.
